The results of a model experiment on the study of peptization capacity
of clay particles in the solonetzic horizon are considered, depending
on the solution concentration and exchangeable sodium content for dif
ferent chemical types of salinization. The response surface is describ
ed, and an equation is developed that relates the peptizability with t
he electrical conductivity of a solution and the exchangable sodium co
ntent. Differences in clay peptization are found for sulfate and chlor
ide solutions.
