Rm. Scarpa et al., UROLUME DOUBLE PROSTHESIS IN THE TREATMENT OF COMPLEX URETHRAL STRUCTURES - A 5-YEAR FOLLOW-UP CASE-REPORT, Urology, 50(3), 1997, pp. 459-461
The 5-year follow-up of the implantation of a UroLume double urethral
stent in 2 patients with recurrent, post-traumatic urethral strictures
is presented. The double implantation for each patient was done by th
e long extension of the urethral lesion. Only 1 patient presented a si
ngle phosphatic concretion in the implantation area during the extende
d follow-up. Urinary flow rates remained absolutely normal. Sexual lif
e was unaffected. This simple modification of the UroLume implantation
may offer effective treatment for extended and recurrent posterior ur
ethral strictures in young sexually active men, for almost 5 years wit
hout early or delayed complications of clinical relevance. (C) 1997, E
