Abstract
Forward and reverse hydride transfer with rigorous diastereodifferenti ation is attained using intramolecular Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reduct ion and Oppenauer oxidation of a 2-acetylphenyl ether containing an op tically active 3-hydroxy-1-methylbutyl group.
