Yq. Tian et al., TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENT FTIR STUDY ON SELF-ASSEMBLY CHIRAL LIQUID-CRYSTALS THROUGH INTERMOLECULAR HYDROGEN-BONDING, Thin solid films, 285, 1996, pp. 603-605
In this paper, two new self-assembly chiral liquid crystals which inte
ract through intermolecular hydrogen bonding between 4-[(S)-2-chloro-3
-methyl] butanoyloxy-4'-stilbazole and 4-alkoxy-benzoic acids (nBA, n
= 5,6) were investigated at different temperatures by using temperatur
e-dependent Fourier transform infrared spectra. The results show that
the ester carbonyl groups are very sensitive to the crystal-liquid cry
stal transitions, and the results also show that the intermolecular hy
drogen bonding is stable in the crystal and liquid-crystal states, but
decreases greatly when temperatures are higher than their clearing po
ints.
