Abstract
Ruthenium(II) complex salts trans-[Ru(NH3)(4)(L-D)- (L-A)][PF6](3) (L- D = an N-donor ligand, L-A = a 4,4'-bipyridinium ligand) exhibit large , tunable static first hyperpolarizabilities beta(o) which are associa ted with intense, visible metal-to-ligand charge-transfer excitations.
