The growth pattern of chlorosiloxanes SinOn'Clm was studied with respe
ct to increasing, decreasing and constant ratio of n'/n. The relative
stability of isomers was determined with the SINDO1 method. The calcul
ations allow us to draw conclusions about stabilities of chains, monoc
yclic and oligocyclic molecules and the preferable ring sizes. Special
attention is given to the cage structures of silsesquioxanes with n'/
n = 1.5 and n = m. It is possible to explain experimental data from ma
ss spectra of mixtures of chlorosiloxane compounds with more than 100
atoms. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
