The interaction between stoichiometric interpolyelectrolyte complexes
(cross-linked poly(sodium acrylate) - linear polyamine) and anionic su
rfactants has been investigated. It was first stated that the polyelec
trolyte gels can sorb effectively anionic surfactants. The driving for
ce of the process is the substitution reaction which results in the po
lymer-colloidal complex (linear polyamine-anionic surfactant) formatio
n within cross-linked matrix. The structure of the reaction products w
as studied by means of wideangle and small-angle X-ray scattering and
differential scanning calorimetry. It was shown that cross-linked matr
ix does not prevent from forming lamellar structure of the micellar ph
ase characterizing for polymer-colloidal complexes.
