The effect of hydrolysis conditions on the submicrostructure formation
in perfluorinated sulfonyl fluoride copolymer was studied by EPR and
pulsed magnetic field gradient NMR techniques. It was established that
hydrolysis of the initial copolymer in morpholine at 2 degrees C lead
s to the formation of a branched channel membrane structure with unifo
rmly distributed ionogenic groups in the transport channel for the tra
nsmembrane transfer of ions and neutral molecules. An increase in the
hydrolysis temperature leads to a growth in the channel size at the ex
pense of increasing number of regions excluded from the general transp
ort channel system.
