The staging of malignant disease for metastatic spread requires a soun
d understanding of the normal anatomy and possible anatomical variants
as well as the expected pathology. This article illustrates this in t
he case of a young man with seminoma of the testis undergoing CT imagi
ng to assess for para-aortic metastatic spread. A potential pitfall th
