Double Fourier series is used to approximate functions of two independ
ent variables and then applied for the analysis of linear distributed
parameter systems. Properties of Fourier series are first briefly disc
ussed, and the operational matrix of integration and product are used
to reduce the dynamical equation of a linear distributed system to a s
et of simultaneous linear algebraic equations. The method is computati
onally very attractive, and applications are demonstrated through illu
