Some physical characteristics of both paper and sources of energy have
been determined in order to model paper drying using infrared radiati
on as energy input. The following points are presented : the absorptio
n coefficient of dry paper in the 1 to 15 mum wavelength band; the spe
ctrum of two sources (near and medium IR band) ; the model for energy
distribution through the thickness of the paper sheet ; the global abs
orption coefficient (integrated with respect to wavelength) as a funct
ion of moisture and for two radiant sources.
