Abstract
Pericarditis is a rare side effect of chemotherapy. We report here the case of a patient treated with high-dose cytosine arabinoside (HD ara -c) who developed severe pericarditis. Interruption of HD ara-c and in itiation of corticosteroid treatment were effective in resolving the p ericardial effusion. This case illustrates this rare but potentially l ife-threatening cardiac complication of HD ara-c therapy as well as th e beneficial effect of corticosteroid treatment.
