Vs. Tsypin et al., ALFVEN-WAVE FORCES, AFFECTING THE TOKAMAK EDGE PLASMA IN THE PRESENCEOF IMPURITIES OR DUST, Physics of plasmas, 4(9), 1997, pp. 3436-3438
Dust particles appear on the edge of tokamak plasmas as a result of di
sruptions and plasma interactions with divertor plates, limiters, or b
lankets, as well as of pellet injections. It is shown that the presenc
e of the dust impurities can lead to an effective decrease of the slow
Alfven wave absorption in the region. These waves are used for heatin
g, current drive, and control of the low-to-high(l-H) confinement tran
sition. Radio-frequency forces can also be strongly changed in the pre
sence of dust particles. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
