Abstract
An analytic solution is found to the nonlinear, ordinary differential equation describing the decay of a plasma inside a small cylindrical b ore following the application of a negative voltage pulse. The maximum values of the ion flux, velocity, and impact energy together with the average impact energy are calculated. The time-averaged ion energy di stribution function is derived.
