P. Niemz et al., COMPARATIVE-STUDIES ON THE USE OF ACOUSTI C-EMISSION AND PIEZOELECTRIC EFFECTS DURING WOOD DRYING, Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 52(3), 1994, pp. 162-168
Comparisons between acoustic emissions and piezoelectric properties in
wood drying were performed. It was determined that with acoustic emis
sion the signal resolution was better than with piezoelectric effect.
Acoustic emissions were affected by drying gradient and wood species.
in this case the frequency of acoustic emission was between 30 and 200
kHz. Acoustic signals can be used for the control of wood drying proc
esses. For industrial use of these technology more investigations are
to be worked out.
