The aim of this work to characterise factors influencing of the CAT an
d GUS reporter genes expression using a rectangular pulse generating s
ystem, and the interactions between the electrical parameters applied
and the physiological state of the electroporated grapevine and sugar
beet suspension protoplasts. These results are shown by use of both a
rectangular pulse generating system and a more commonly used capacitor
discharge system, which delivers pulses of exponentially decaying vol
