ANIMAL-WELFARE RULES OF SLAUGHTERING AND EXTERMINATION IN THE EUROPEAN-COMMUNITY

EU Council Directive 93/119 has been reported on the care of solipedou s and cloven-hoofed animals, poultry, rabbits and fur animals during s laughtering and killing. Rules to be applied at the slaughterhouses ha ve been detailed together with those to be maintained during slaughter ing and killing animals outside a slaughterhouse. Methods accepted to use in the European Community for moving and housing the animals insid e the slaughterhouse, fixing the animals before and during stunning, s laughtering or killing and the conditions of their execution have been detailed. Reporting the animal welfare demands accepted and introduce d at the Hungarian export slaughterhouses are important because these rules form the basis of the planned national regulation to be issued a ccording to the harmonization of laws.
