tax policy and foreign investment legislation. Although there are str
ict environmental requirements, mining ventures can satisfactorily cop
e with them and they represent no obstacle to mining activities. Effic
ient regulatory agencies are in place, such as the Department of Mines
(DNPM) and the Geological Survey (CPRM), The Brazilian mineral policy
is set out in a number of different documents, the more important bei
ng the Federal Constitution and the Mining Code. Important constitutio
