The gyromagnetic switching process in longitudinal thin film recording
media is studied by using numerical micromagnetics. The dynamic recor
ding process of medium magnetization transition is examined in detail.
The head field rise time required for the formation of a magnetizatio
n transition is studied at different deep gap field magnitudes for med
ia with damping constants ranging from 0.01 to 1.0. The gyromagnetic s
witching limit on medium recording data rata is investigated for cases
with various damping constants and record head held rise times.
