With increases in media coericivity and file data rates, higher perfor
mance write heads and write head pole materials are needed. In this pa
per we report on the development of the electrodeposited alloy high mo
ment NiFe (45/55) for use as an advanced write head pole material. Mag
netic properties of the material are compared to Permalloy as well as
recording performance as a function of media He and head date rate.
