Abstract
Signal and noise characteristics around the recorded track edges of a CoCrTa perpendicular medium are investigated in a microscopic scale by magnetic force microscopy coupled with Fourier-analysis. The noise le vel within the recorded region is higher than that of DC erased region , and the medium noise near the both track-edges is higher than that m easured at the recorded track center. Sharp off-track overwrite profil es are confirmed when the low-frequency signal(45 kFCI) is off-track o verwritten by the high-frequency signal(200 kFCI).
