Abstract
A wear model, based on Archard's law, has been approached to correlate with the volume wear rate of laser texture bump on magnetic recording disk. The experiment results matches very well with the predicted mod el, except during the running-in period. This method was used for the wear resistance evaluation of various overcoat composition quantitativ ely instead of qualitively, and also the wear volume measurement for t he laser texture bump is much more easier than that of the mechanical texture disk.
