We present evidence that domain-wall pinning in MnBi films is responsi
ble for the unusual increase of the high-temperature coercivity. The M
nBi crystallite size has been reduced by depositing Bi/Mn/Al multilaye
rs. The average diameter of the MnBi particles is smaller than the cri
tical diameter of single-domain particles, therefore, domain-wall pinn
ing does not enhance the high-temperature coercivity as observed for p
ure MnBi films.
