A Novel method of analysing the performance of Constant Voltage Transf
ormers (CVT), also known as Ferroresonant Voltage Regulators, is descr
ibed. Synthesis of core configuration and analysis, using strip wound
cut-cores instead of conventional stamped laminations, for CVT, are en
umerated. Due to these two features, the design procedure is distinctl
y laid down, so that trial and error method of making a CVT is elimina
ted. The specific advantages of using cut-cores is clearly brought out
. Results from practical models establish the feasibility of the propo
sed method.
