H. Chiriac et al., EFFECT OF MN, SN, AND CR ADDITIONS ON THE MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF THE AMORPHOUS GLASS-COVERED WIRES FROM THE FE-SI-B SYSTEM, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 33(5), 1997, pp. 3346-3348
Results on the effect of Mn, Sn, and Cr additions on the magnetic prop
erties of positive magnetostrictive Fe79Si5B16 amorphous glass-covered
magnetic wires are presented. Magnetic measurements performed on Fe75
Si5B16Mn4, and Fe77Si5B16Cr2 amorphous glass-covered wires show the ex
perience of a large Barkhausen effect in these wires, but the switchin
g fields are smaller than those of the Fe79Si5B16 ones. The additions
also diminish the saturation magnetization of FeSiB amorphous glass-co
vered wires. Measurements on samples after glass removal have been als
o performed. The results are interpreted by taking into account the re
duction in the strength of the magnetoelastic coupling between interna
l stresses and magnetostriction due to the decrease of the magnetostri
ction constant.
