Abstract
Magnetostriction models are being widely used in the development of fi ne positioning and active vibration damping devices. This paper presen ts a new approach for simulating 1-D magnetostriction using 2-D anisot ropic Preisach-type models. In this approach, identification of the mo del takes into account measured flux density versus field and strain v ersus field curves for different stress values. Consequently, a more a ccurate magnetostriction model may be obtained. Details of the identif ication procedure as well as experimental testing of the proposed mode l are given.
