Abstract
The data of infrared analysis realised on samples cored in two swamps of the Serra dos Carajas (Eastern Amazonia), reveal five palaeohydrolo gical periods during the last 30 kyr BP. Comparison of these results w ith the palynological data allows a new interpretation of how the shor t and important climatic changes have an influence on the palaeoenviro nment.
