We investigated the operating mechanism of the microstrip-line type pi
ckup coil user for thin-film permeance measurements up to GHz range. W
e found that some flux lines form continuous loops around the ground p
lane when the coil has a sample window. How the flux distribution chan
ges and how the induced voltage increases when a magnetic sample is in
serted was clarified by measurements of flux distribution and finite e
lement calculations.
