Abstract
A differential equation model for linear induction machines is develop ed that is capable of predicting both transient and steady-state perfo rmance. The model is verified by comparison with switch-on transient m easurements taken at constant speed. Additional verification is given by including mechanical equations and comparing a variable speed run-u p prediction with measurements taken on a large scale test rig.
