Jf. Meng et al., VISIBLE EMISSION STUDY IN NANOCRYSTALLINE BA1-XPBXTIO3 AND SR1-XPBXTIO3 SYSTEMS, Ferroelectrics. Letters section, 23(1-2), 1997, pp. 19-26
Photoluminescence spectroscopy measurements on Ba1-xPbxTiO3 and Sr1-xP
bxTiO3, with grain sizes of 60 and 30 nm respectively, have been carri
ed out. A single-emission band at similar to 2.0 eV for pure BaTiO3, a
nd at similar to 2.14 eV in the case of pure SrTiO3,, has been observe
d at room temperature. The dependence of the band-position, -intensity
, and -width of the visible emission on Pb concentration using the exc
itation line of 514.5, has been studied and offered a model responsibl
e for the origin of photoluminescence in nanocrystalline BaTiO3 and Sr
TiO3. The thermal quenching of photoluminescence for pure bulk materia
ls has been discussed.
