The antidiabetic activity of Leucas lavandulaefolia Rees (Family-Labia
tae) extract on streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats has been in
vestigated, A methanol extract of the herb at doses of 200 and 400 mg/
kg, and glybenclamide (1 mg/kg) were administered concurrently to STZ-
diabetic rats, The extract caused a significant reduction of blood glu
cose levels in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats by 29.8% (p<0.001)
compared with control groups, (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
