Abstract
A study is made of the two-plasmon decay when the pump laser beam has a finite bandwidth. Using the fluid theory, analytical expressions for the growth rates and threshold powers for homogeneous plasma and inho mogeneous plasma with linear ramp density were obtained; it has been s hown that the bandwidth in the laser beam can significantly affect the growth rates and threshold powers for the two-plasmon decay process.
