Sg. Garcia et al., UNDERPOTENTIAL DEPOSITION AND ELECTROCRYS TALLIZATION OF SILVER ON AU(100), Anales de la Asociacion Quimica Argentina, 84(6), 1996, pp. 597-605
The underpotential deposition (UPD) and overpotential deposition (OPD)
process of silver on Au(100) single crystal surface was studied using
conventional electrochemical techniques and in-situ scanning tunnelin
g ; microscopy (STM) with lateral atomic resolution. The substrate sur
face was characterized at relatively positive potentials, as well as t
he structures formed by silver atoms during the different adsorption s
teps. Al relatively low overpotentials a ''monolayer by monolayer'' or
''Frank-van der Merwe'' growth mode was observed, owing to a negligib
le metal-substrate misfit.
