Aa. Dokuchaev et al., EFFECT OF VARIOUS FACTORS ON THE FORMATION OF SILVER AGGREGATES IN REVERSED MICELLES UNDER EXPOSURE TO GAMMA-RADIATION, High energy chemistry, 31(5), 1997, pp. 316-319
Effects of the ratio between H2O and surfactant concentrations, the pr
esence of oxygen, and the pH of the aqueous phase on the formation of
silver aggregates in reversed micelles were examined. It was demonstra
ted that aggregates absorbing Light with lambda = 380 and 530 nm, whic
h can be identified as aggregates of irregular shape or as aggregates
forming a complex with organic ligands (surfactant molecules), are for
med in reversed micelles under gamma-irradiation along with ordinary s
pherically shaped silver aggregates having an absorption maximum at 43
0 nm. The presence of oxygen as well as H+ ions in significant concent
rations results in processes that lower the probability of silver aggr
egate formation.
