Mn. Norlidah et al., MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF THE NEW TBFESI2-TYPE NDRHCU0.5SI1.5 AND PRRHCU0.5SI1.5 COMPOUNDS FROM MAGNETIC MEASUREMENTS AND NEUTRON-DIFFRACTION, Journal of alloys and compounds, 257(1-2), 1997, pp. 30-35
Crystallographic and magnetic properties of PrRhCu0.5Si1.5 and NdRhCu0
.55Si1.5 have been investigated. Both compounds crystallize in the TbF
eSi(2)type structure and display an antiferromagnetic transition at T-
N=15 K. Neither of the two display spontaneous magnetization at 4 K. N
eutron diffraction patterns reveal simple collinear antiferromagnetic
structures with moment values equivalent to 2.39 mu(B) for Nd and 2.19
mu(B) for Pr. The magnetic structures are also described as antiferro
magnetic BaAl4 blocks connected by ferromagnetic AIB(2) blocks. The re
sults are discussed and compared to the magnetic behavior of RRh2X2 ge
rmanides and silicides. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
