Abstract
The collection efficiencies of conventional dust deposition gauges are , in general, very poor, particularly for small particles. In this pap er a new design is proposed in which external lips are located around a deposition gauge to control the air flow pattern and, hence, enhance the collection efficiency. Extensive computational studies of two-dim ensional systems reveal that much sought-after requirement of collecti on efficiency, which is both wind- and particle-independent, may be ef fectively achieved by incorporating outward extended lips around the g auge opening with an integral gap.
