The magnetostriction of CeCu6 and CeB6 has been studied at temperature
s down to 100 mK and in fields up to 7 T. In CeCu6 we see no evidence
for magnetic transitions, but instead see a simple field dependence of
the dilatation consistent with a strongly renormalised Pauli paramagn
et, In CeB6 we observe a variation of the field dependence of the dila
tation, reflecting the complex nature of the magnetic phase diagram in
this compound.
