Abstract
The intrinsic structure of ''true'' jets from hard parton-parton scatt ering and ''false'' jets from the transverse energy flux in high energ y nucleus-nucleus collisions is analyzed. The predicted significant di stinction allows us to develop more effective algorithms of hard jet e xtraction from a ''thermal'' background in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions.
