Abstract
Polarizability of a hydrogenic impurity in a rectangular quantum-well wire (QWW) with finite barrier height is calculated by using the Hartr ee-like approach. Numerical results for the case of GaAs QWWs show a l arge influence of finite barrier height, impurity position, field dire ction and nonsquare cross-section on the polarizability and the bindin g energy of the impurity.
