Abstract
Lithium and sodium fullerides are the least well characterized of the alkali fullerides. We report the liquid ammonia synthesis and structur al characterization of Na2C60(NH3)(8), which contains a rhombohedral C -60 stacking not previously reported in simple fullerides. We also des cribe A(x)C(60) (A = Li Or Na, x = 2 and 3) samples prepared by the de sorption of ammonia from corresponding ammoniated fullerides. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
