Extinction and reinforcement contingencies were used to treat 2 childr
en with feeding disorders. Positive reinforcement and avoidance extinc
tion effectively increased food acceptance but also increased food exp
ulsion. Reduced expulsion and increased swallowing were achieved by re
peated presentation of expelled food, a second extinction component.
