The results of magnetic susceptibility, heat capacity (C), electrical
resistivity (rho) and magnetoresistance measurements on the alloy CeCu
0.86Ge2 are presented. This alloy exhibits the following characteristi
cs: (i) an antiferromagnetic ordering at a rather high temperature (15
K) in spite of the fact that the Curie-Weiss parameter is positive; (
ii) a sharp metamagnetic behaviour below 15 K in a magnetic field of 1
0-20 kOe, and (iii) an increase of C/T and a decrease of rho below 5 K
, which does not seem to arise from another magnetic transition.
