Hg. Du et al., EFFECT OF MIXTURE OF CHARCOAL WITH PYROLIGNEOUS ACID ON SUCROSE CONTENT IN NETTED MELON (CUCUMIS-MELO L. VAR RETICULATUS NAUD.) FRUIT, Nippon Sakumotsu Gakkai Kiji, 66(3), 1997, pp. 369-373
To determine the effects of mixing charcoal with pyroligneous acid (py
roligneous acid 1 : charcoal 4; Sannekka E) on sucrose synthesis in ne
tted melon fruit, five experiments were carried out at 3 locations fro
m 1990 to 1995. All the experiments indicated higher sucrose content i
n the fruit supplemented with Sannekka E than without Sannekka E. The
activity of sucrose phosphate synthase (SPS) increased as the fruit ma
tured, irrespective of Sannekka E application, but the increase was hi
gher in the case of Sannekka E. From the result, it is suggested that
the application of Sannekka E increases SPS activity, which promotes t
he synthesis of sucrose from glucose and fructose in melon fruits.
