Dm. Timus et Mm. Popescu, THE ENERGY SPREAD OF SOME RADIATION-FIELDS USED IN ACTIVATION-ANALYSIS, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 220(2), 1997, pp. 135-143
The global results of the activation process are generally dependent o
f the activated material, type of nuclear reaction, energy of incident
particles, etc by means of some specific parameters (cross section, f
lux density, etc.). To characterize the above mentioned process, the e
nergy behavior study of the radiation fields generated by extended sou
rces can be useful. In this paper, the energy spread in nondispersive
media of some exoergic nuclear reactions (i.e., d-D, d-T reactions at
low energy excitation levels, etc.) lodged in axi-symmetrically emitti
ng disk-shaped sources, used as radiation sources in activation analys
is, have been investigated analytically. The contribution of the first
terms of an angular depending series approximation is underlined. Com
putationally tractable expressions, in terms of elementary and ellipti
c integral type functions, are proposed.
