Abstract
An intracorporeal left ventricular assist device was placed as a bridg e to cardiac transplantation in a 51-year-old man after an acute myoca rdial infarction. After 126 days of support, the left ventricular assi st device malfunctioned. The pump, which had a tear in its pneumatic d rive line, was successfully replaced.
