Abstract
The finite volume method is applied to the computation of structures o n heterogeneous media. The use of a cartesian mesh to discretize a geo metry allows more easily the optimization of the program while preserv ing the same numeration of the nodes. The numerical results about the homogenization of a composite material (boron-aluminium) allow us to c onsider the finite volume method as a possible alternative to the fini te element method in computation of structures.
