Yz. Shu et al., OREVACTAENE, A NOVEL BINDING INHIBITOR OF HIV-1 REV PROTEIN TO REV RESPONSE ELEMENT (RRE) FROM EPICOCCUM-NIGRUM WC47880, Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry letters, 7(17), 1997, pp. 2295-2298
Orevactaene (1), a novel oxopolyene, was isolated from Epicoccum nigru
m WC47880 during the screening of microbial fermentation extracts for
their ability to inhibit the binding between HIV-I regulatory protein
Rev and its viral RNA-binding site, Rev response element (RRE). The st
ructure of I was elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Compound I displ
ayed inhibitory activity against the Rev/RRE binding with an IC50 valu
e of 3.6 mu M. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
