This paper deals with some possible applications of birefringent lens
(BL) in the field of Moire technique. The simple nature of intereferen
ce between two longitudinally shifted point sources, which can be achi
eved by a BL, makes a very convenient system for generating Fresnel fr
inge patterns. These fringe system considered as the primary pattern c
an then be used for generating secondary Moire fringes with different
gratings. It is also interesting to note that BL can be used to genera
te other types of fringe patterns, concentric in nature, e.g. equispac
ed concentric fringes. In the present report, we have ommited the deta
iled mathematical analysis and only some representative experimental r
esults are presented.
