Abstract
It was hypothesized that individuals perceiving high levels of conflic t between their work and non-work life roles would exhibit reduced lev els of organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). A new measure of in fer-role conflict and facilitation was tested on 169 full-time employe d MBA students. Results primarily supported the direct effects of role conflict on OCB. However, organizational commitment was found to medi ate the relationship between role conflict and the OCB dimension of lo yalty. Research and organizational implications are discussed.
