Abstract
Goldstein and Benassi (1994) found that teacher self-disclosure correl ated positively with student classroom participation. Wambach and Brot hen (1997/this issue) offered methodological, empirical, and conceptua l criticisms. We address their criticisms, and indicate weaknesses in their work. We reaffirm our original conclusions.
